Reply:Oisin "osh + een"
The son of the legendary warrior Fionn Mac Cool (read the legend) and the goddess Sive. His mother was turned into a deer by the Dark Druid and she reared him in the forest until he was seven years old. When Fionn was out hunting he found the child and recognising him as his son, gave him the name oisin "little deer." He is best remembered for his love for "Niamh of the Golden Hair" with whom he spent 300 years in Tir-na-nOg, ("Land of Eternal Youth") (read the legend).
(Read the legend of Oisin and Niamh.)
A very popular name again in Ireland.
its also an irish name, o wait u just found that out
Reply:Ois铆n is a gorgeous name - he was the son of Fionn in the F铆anna铆贸cht legends so your baby would have a really interesting name, and story to tell! Don't trust all the baby name sites on the web they seem to give really dodgy and inaccurate "Irish" names such as Quinn, Reilly, Bailey, Ahearne, as well as other completely made up ones. Quinn Reilly etc are only used as surnames here, and aren't usually interchangeable as first names.
Eoghan/Eoin is an alternative form of Se谩n (it's pronunced Owen, and is also Irish for John)
Darragh/Dara is the Irish for oak tree, and a common name, it means strong.
Liam (Leeum - Like Liam Neeson the actor)
Ciar谩n (Keerawn)
P谩draig (Irish for Patrick, pronounced Pawdrig)
Rory
Donal (Dohnal)
Fionn (Fee-un, but said quickly so the sounds run together)
Conor - name of a High King of Ireland
Cian (Kee-an)
Diarmaid
This site seems quite good for Irish names, and their true origin (One of the most popular baby name sites, often mentioned here, has completely useless origins for Irish names)
