Would I translate my name into Irish?

I am slowly teaching myself Irish; it is difficult but I keep trying and practice everyday. Anyway, I was wondering if I lived in the Irish speaking part of Ireland would I translate my name into Irish? I know this is probably a stupid question but I was wondering if I would since my English name has letters and sounds not used in Irish.

Thank you to anybody that helps.

Depends on what your name is. If you can get a translation, you should probably use it! It sounds better when you're talking to have the name in Irish too (or in writing)

Edit: Yeah, Caitr铆ona/Catr铆ona is the Irish translation of your name!
Reply:Katherine in Irish is Catr铆ona (also spelt Caitr铆ona)

Reply:I don't know your name so i cannot help you..... :/
Reply:What's your name?
