Is "Hulsey" an Irish last name? If not, whats its origin?

(psst... heads up.. not all names HAVE an "origin"). I'm whispering so no one gets mad at me for saying this.

The LDS church files have entries from such things as church baptisms, which are original records. The name shows up not only in England, but also in German records.

If your Hulsey ancestor came from Germany, your heritage is German. If he came from England, it's English.

As an Irish man ' Hulsey ' I have never heard of it, it could be an English name. I would be gratefully if you find its origin, and let me know, thank very much..

Halsey

English: habitational name of uncertain origin. The surname is common in London, and may be derived from "Alsa" (formerly Assey) in Stanstead Mountfitchet, Essex (recorded as Alsiesheye in 1268). Another possible source is "Halsway " in Somerset, named from Old English "hals" 鈥?quot;neck"鈥?+ "weg" 鈥?quot;way"鈥? 鈥?quot;road"鈥?
