Irish Lizard

The lizards are back!

The lizards are back!

They paraded on St Pats

wearing their green with smile attacks

This tiny fellow was barely an inch

he crawled from the bromeliad in a pinch

when I shook the plant it was a cinch

to see him strut like a proud finch

His tiny frame was like a pin

his skin so very paper thin

his breathing new and rather dim

as he looked around with a small grin

He didn't run away from me

I think that he could easily see

that he made me so very happy

I was harmless and friendly

He sat while I got my camera

glowing with a cosmic chimera

showing off in such glamour

baby pix that made me stammer

As I watched him walk away

I thanked the Lord for this spring day

knowing war and evil ways

can't conquer life where lizards play!

Reply:Lacerta vivipara, alternatively Zootoca vivipara... The common or viviparous lizard... Not a very impressive name!
