I hear this song all the time at sports bars, sporting events, etc. It is a rallie song. I'm pretty sure it's an old Irish folk tune redone in rock/heavy metal. They played it on the commercial for Barbara Walter's "The Royal Family: Behind the Palace Walls" which aired on March 3rd. The commercial was played during the Oscars. Thank you sooo much... I can't get the tune out of my head!
What is the name of this Irish folk song-- redone in metal/rock?

Reply:it sounds from the way you describe it would be Metallica "Whiskey in the Jar" which is a remake of an irish drinking song.... limewire it or google it, and it might confirm this.... Report Abuse
Reply:I had the same problem!!!! So i looked for a couple hours and found it!
Its I'm Shipping Up To Boston - Dropkick Murphys Report Abuse
Reply:Ok do you know some of the words? There are lots of groups that cover old Irish songs (usually drinking songs) and this is probably one of them. Pogues and Flogging Molly are two groups. Might start your search there.
Reply:can you tell me some of the words or some more info ?
