What do you think of Aisling... pronounced ASH-ling. I know it is different.... Be honest and thank you.
Opinions of this Irish name...?
I absolutely love it ! I'm all for original and unusual names.
I had all kinds of unusual and original names picked out if I ever had children. ( but never did ) although, I have the most wonderful "step" daughter I could ever ask for, her name is Leslie. Not unusual but the name does not make the person.
Reply:I LOVE it. I was considering it for my first baby. it's a girls' name. the only problem is that if you are not living in ireland, no one will know how to pronounce it and she will get called Aze-ling. however, if you spell the name Ashling, it's not as cool, so there's the trade off. I support the name aisling. it's cool and beautiful
Reply:I like it. I'm Irish and there are alot of Aisling's where i live so I wouldn't use it as a name because there are just too many (both of my neighbours have girls called Aisling).
However if you dont mind it being common or you dont live in Ireland then I think its a good name.
Reply:I like it. At least it has an origin and isn't stupid like a lot of the names these days. Unfortunately it would mean that she (I think it's a girl's name?) would have to spell her name all the time ... but that's part of life for most of us!
Oh, and Ashling sounds NOTHING like duckling ... seriously
Reply:There is a common term for someone who is in trouble: "He has his @$$ in a sling". In school, your son/daughter, Aisling, will hear this phrase over and over and over, and will be eventually called "@$$ Sling". I guarantee it.
Reply:I think it's a beautiful name, but will be mis-pronounced her entire life. So, if you like it, find a way to spell it that will beget it's pronunciation. One of my favorite Irish girl's name has always been Bronwyn.
Reply:It's very pretty, and it's not too common yet. Plus it's a fairly authentic Irish name, so it would be a good pick for a girl with Irish heritage.
Reply:Love it. I have it on my list, although I'm confused about the pronunciation. Every single baby name site has the correct pronunciation as Ash-lynn.
Reply:I think it would get annoying having to correct people on how to pronounce it all the time, but I actually really like the name.
Reply:Not that fond of it, I usually like the Irish one, my sister named her daughter Shayleigh (Shay-lee) I like that one. Good Luck!
Reply:I like Ashlyn better, I named my daughter Ashlyn Riley Boyle...perfect irish name, good luck!
Reply:I like the name, the only thing is when people read it, they won't pronounce it the way you want them too.
Reply:nobody will pronounce it like that when they see it... i would hate to be in school and have the teacher up there stumbling with my name...
Reply:How about Ainsley (Anes-ly)
Reply:I actually really like the name Aisling. I know a little girl who does Irish dance with that name and she is very cute!
