it's pronounced like Soh-chtle
How about Saoirse Xochitl Cohen too much?
so her name would meen freedom flower and have a little bit of each culture :)
I'd asked about an Irish name in a spanish familiy....What about Xochitl?
Separately they are okay, but the singsonging S's sounds at the beginning of the name almost make it sound like she's auditioning to be next girl down at the shore selling her sea shells.
Reply:i mean, it's great that it has so much culture behind it. but think of when she'd go to school and she'd have to correct all the teachers, it applies to later in life too!
maybe make them her middle name(s)? she can have two, not that uncommon, actually. but do whatever you'd like, it's still beautiful :)
Reply:i think theyd have a hard time surviving everyday life..
how about something simple and easy to say
Reply:Hey I know a Maeve Xochitl and a Kelan Felipe.
Do whatever you want that honors your family and culture.
I love the name Xochitl.
Reply:Xochitl is a very cool name, and it has a great meaning, but I don't think I would use it with Saorise.
I recommend choosing one uncommon, hard-to-pronounce name and one more common, easy-to-pronounce name. Two extremely difficult names seems like an overload.
Some possibilities:
Saoirse Maria
Saoirse Rosabel
Saoirse Elaina (freedom torch)
Saoirse Amaya
Saoirse Dolores (freedom from sorrow?)
Saoirse Amora (freedom lover)
Saoirse Belen
Saoirse Esperanza (freedom spirit)
Saoirse Luisa (freedom and fame)
Saoirse Maribel
Saoirse Pilar (pillar of freedom)
Saoirse Mercedes (freedom and mercy)
Reply:Beautiful when u know the meaning. But definitely hard to pronounce and spell
Reply:well its really diffrent....
Reply:It's Unique, but the child will have problems in school, i don't think anyone will be able to pronounce the name. I like the meaning behind it but i think Saoirse Xochitl Cohen is a bit to much.
Reply:Yikes..I am just worried no one will know how to pronounce it. It took me a few read throughs to say it. Maybe might want to make the first name a little more recognizable. I think it would make it easier on your child in the long run.
Reply:sounds cool but she's going to have a hell of a time learning to spell her name. and people will always get the pronounciation/spelling wrong
Reply:I'm spanish and never heard of those words... but hey go ahead. It's your lil one =] Baby names all have a meaning behind them =] So yeah I'd say go for the names...
